First Peoples Young Artists Program 2020

With thanks to Crown Resorts Foundation and the Packer Family Foundation, MTC in partnership with the Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development, is proudly continuing the First Peoples Young Artists Program in 2020.

First Peoples Young Artists Program 2020

Now in its sixth year, this one-of-a-kind program, offered in partnership with the Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development at VCA, provides an opportunity for young First Peoples to learn more about the creative industries.

Through the program participants explore potential career pathways as well as develop their own creative skills and confidence through practical workshops and presentations.

The program is made up of three blocks (all one week each) focusing on an area of theatre-making. Participants will be guided by teaching artists, meet with industry professionals, see a range of productions, and engage in cultural experiences throughout the three weeks to build their understanding and ideas:

Block 1 – Exploring Design
Learn about a designer’s process and experiment with costume, set, sound and lighting in practical workshops.

Block 2 – Developing Story
Find stories, write scripts, create dialogue and develop characters.

Block 3 – Directing and Performance
Develop performing and directing skills and build confidence.
