As a key performance partner for Australia’s national ballet and opera companies, Orchestra Victoria is ideally placed to provide specialised professional development for orchestral musicians.

This new fellowship dedicated to the legendary Maestro Richard Bonynge AC, CBE is enabled through the wonderful generosity of Lady Potter AC, CMRI.

Working with opera and ballet companies forms a critical part of the profession for most orchestral musicians: musicians accompanying opera and ballet performances need to adjust their playing to the action on stage; have to deal (physically and mentally) with multiple performances of lengthy stage works; and master the variety of performance traditions of the more than 300 years of opera and ballet repertoire.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with Orchestra Victoria in 2020 under the leadership of a variety of world-class conductors, mentored by the orchestra’s talented and skilled musicians, in performances with Opera Australia, The Australian Ballet and the Victorian Opera.
